Book Writing Software

Writing a book can be easier than it use to be. You still need to have a good story and plot to write something someone wants to read, but you can put it together much more easily than you use to because of the personal computer. Gone are the days of typing out page after page on a typewriter hoping that you do not make a huge mistake and have to start typing that page all over again. You no longer have to go out and get copies made somewhere else, as you can print from your own computer as many times as you want. For help with setting things up, book writing software can be wonderful.
There are many choices in book writing software that you can get. For the most part, those programs that do the same things are all good choices, but you may find that you like one more than another. There are a few things you need when you write a book and want to send it out to someone for consideration. Make sure the software that you want to buy has all that you need. You can even find some free, though it might not do all that you need it to do.
Your book writing software should have the ability to format each and every page for you. What you want to do depends on where you want to submit your work, but most publisher want to see your name and the name of your book on each page in the header, and you should have a page number in either the header or the footer. Get software that offers headers and footers (most do) and also one that can number the pages for you rather than putting the same number on each page. If you have ever made such a numbered footer, you understand that some do not number sequentially for you.
Your software should also be able to help you edit and format your pages so that you have no misspellings and also that your margins are as needed and your font is what you want. Choose something simple and widely used as anything else could be a turnoff for a potential publisher. Use the spell check feature and if your book writing software does not come with one, you should get something else. Even the best spellers can type something wrong once in a while and it is best if your software catches it before you send it out.
One thing your book writing software can not do for you is to write your book. That is something that is up to you. However, with the help of the right program you can hand in something that looks neat, professional and is clean of error. That may not help you get published if you do not have good material, but if you send in the best story with a sloppy presentation you run the risk of someone tossing it before they give it a chance. Think of your software as an investment in your writing endeavor.
